There are times and situations where a smaller profile bait is the best option. Heavy fishing pressure, ultra clear water and small lakes and rivers can all be examples of this. The Fat Bass finesse series Swim Jigs were created just for these times and they flat out catch fish. We first designed this bait to catch big smallmouth bass in river systems, but have since realized they just hammer fish. From big Cutthroat trout in Wyoming, to walleye and northern pike in Minnesota, to big largemouth bass in Santee Cooper. A member of our Church just returned from a week long trip to the Boundary Waters wilderness area with his 8 year old son. He told us this bait hammered fish while they could not get bit on anything else. This is a dynamite bait for Largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and spotted bass. Pro Tip: Being a 1/4 oz. bait, I prefer fishing these on a 7' medium action spinning rod with a fast tip. This rod allows for pinpoint casting accuracy around docks and shallow grass yet has the length needed to make long casts. Gamma Fluorocarbon in 8 pound works well with this presentation. As with any swim jig, allow the fish to load the rod before using a sweep type hookset.
